EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences. Developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR involves the patient recalling distressing memories while simultaneously undergoing bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements or tapping. This dual focus is believed to facilitate the processing of traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and helping individuals integrate these experiences into their overall understanding of themselves. EMDR is often used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and may be used to treat a range of other issues rooted in the past.
